Kodachrome Basin

Kodachrome Basin State Park is where we visited today (Tuesday)

Kodachrome Basin is a State Park of Utah. It is situated 5,800 feet above sea level.  In 1949 the National Geographic Society gave the basin this name with the consent from the Kodak Film Co. after seeing the changing color and shadows against the blue sky.

Sixty-seven sand pipes ranging from two to 52 meters have been identified in the park.

It was really fascinating to be able to walk up and be so close to the rock formations.  The colors continue to mesmerize us.  We hiked to Shakespeare arch, it was a real workout especially at that elevation.

That is just balancing on top!
