Cheyenne, WY

We left Central City Co. Saturday and drove to Cheyenne, WY.  What a difference in the scenery, we went from seeing thousands of evergreen trees to seeing very green fields that you can see for miles and miles.

Magic City of the Plains
The City of Cheyenne had its beginning in 1867, when the Union Pacific Railroad came through on its way to the west coast. The town site was first surveyed by General Grenville Dodge and was named for an Indian tribe that roamed the area (originally called ‘Shey’ an’ nah’, belonging to the tribe of Algonquian, the largest family of Indians on the North American Continent). Settlement came so fast that the nickname "Magic City of the Plains" was adopt

We’re staying at Terry Bison Ranch.  The ranch is one of the largest bison ranches in North America.  There are approximately 2500 head of bison roaming the 27,500 acre ranch.  They also have donkeys, chickens, ostrich, camels, goats and llamas and other farm animals.

They were really busy Saturday; there was a wedding, a 40th class reunion and a family reunion.  We enjoy listening to the singers in the evening.  Food is great but very expensive!

We’re both recovering from a cold so we haven’t done much site seeing yet but should be back on track in the next couple of days. Yesterday Monday we stayed close to home because of the storms, it was really windy and rainy.  We were lucky the tornados didn’t hit here but 15 miles away several touched down and they had hail from the size of a quarter up to the size of a grapefruit!!
Letting the horses out for the night. They have 55, they are so pretty!
